Gents, I have been itching to get back into making some more homemade sausage and maybe some Brats'. If we had a count of how many folks will be attending this fun shoot (it really is fun!) I'm happy to make enough sausage (and some seasoned venison/beef burgers) for the 'troops'. Can anyone give me an approximate count? I will also bring along some more of 'Clyde's Blackout' libation (for after the shoot like last year) to finish of the days fun shoot.

Sounds good Dave. By the way, that Parker I recently purchased from you is greatly improving my skeet game. thanks. A.

For those who did not attend last year's fun shoot and thereby did not have the opportunity to partake of the aforementioned libation, it is a very fine bottled hard cider that is aged in sherry casks so it makes for a very nice (interesting?) after the shoot drink. Bottled at Clyde's Cedar Mill in Stonington, Ct.

Allan,
Deb and I will be there and I will bring some German made Venison hot dogs and smoked Kielbasa I had made at Noaks in Meriden.

allen newell
03-19-2014, 07:01 PM
Thanks Larry, that sounds great. I'll bring about 8 lbs of Italian (sweet) sausage and about 8 lbs of fresh Brats. I'll skip the venison & beef burgers as I think that between you and me, we will have the gang covered. Will we be using Addieville's outdoor charcoal/gas(?) grills? Some one needs to bring some California cold slaw and some nice German potato salad to complement the sausages, Kielbasa and Dogs. I'll bring mustard, paper plates and ketchup. someone needs to add some soda.

Dean Romig
03-19-2014, 07:22 PM
I'll bring plenty of soda for everyone.

allen newell
03-19-2014, 08:15 PM
Do we need to bring charcoal and/or propane for grills to use that are there? Addieville supply the fuel?

Dean Romig
03-19-2014, 08:33 PM
Jack takes care of the gas for the grills.

I'm sure Dave will discuss everything with Jack well in advance.

Made 8 lbs of sweet Italian sausage today for Addieville. Given that Larry is bringing Kilebasa and 'dogs', I'll forgo making any brats. This we have enough meat for the lads. This will go nicely with the 'cole' slaw and Edgar's famous Karat Kake! (lol)

04-03-2014, 07:44 AM
Larry, Dave, and Dean; I have made approx. 30 sweet Italian sausages to bring to Addieville. I'll also bring rolls and condiments to go with them and chips. See you there.

Dean Romig
04-03-2014, 09:22 AM
Has anyone seen a long-range weather forecast? I've never shot clays in a snow storm before.... should be fun!

allen newell
04-03-2014, 11:51 AM
Edgar, if Dave decides he likes them and takes an extra amount I won't mind as I have no plans on any coming back home with me.

Dean; any long range forecast made today would not be reliable. Doubt there will be any snow though. Greater chance it may be an unseasonably cool day. But as long as it doesn't snow or rain, we'll find a way to have fun. And I will be bringing someone I'd like you gents to meet.

I am also bringing down 2 Parkers that Brad has restored for me and once again, Brad's work is excellent. One of the Parkers is a nice little 20 ga Trojan that I plan to give to one of my grand sons when he attains the ripe old age of 12! The other Parker is a VH 12 ga w/30"" bbls that I purchased directly from Brian Dudley (thank you Brian) that Brad has also restored in excellent fashion. Now I have to see my 'shrink' to find out why I am so enamored with Parkers!

edgarspencer
04-03-2014, 12:05 PM
Why do you need a long range forecast for sporting clays? Your longest shot is probably only 40-45 yards.

allen newell
04-03-2014, 12:51 PM
If you have to know; the extended forecast for Addieville 4/12 is 55 degrees high and a low of 26 degrees. sunshine day, no clouds in the forecast.

The current forecast for Harrisville, R.I. (Addieville) shows a high of 65 degrees/low of 41 with a passing morning shower. Looks like a decent day to break some clays and get together.

I use Mapleville, RI for the forcast. Shirts are done guy's.

allen newell
04-08-2014, 06:29 AM
Per Accuweather, whether it's Harrisville or Mapleville the forecast for this weekend is the same.

Sausages made and ready for Saturday. Bring an appetite!

Dean Romig
04-08-2014, 06:56 AM
Thanks Allen. It sounds like the weather will be better than it has been on the New Year's Day shoots at Major Waldron's... but I wouldn't miss those either!

Dave Suponski
04-08-2014, 08:26 PM
The cost for the shirts will be $15 same as in years past. See you guy's in a few day's. Allen..whats the weather look like.....

Dave, the forecast for Addieville as of this morning shows rain in the am with possible sun later in the day. What is the plan if it's raining throughout the morning? Do we have an alternate rain date? I don't feel much like shooting in the rain.

The hourly forecast for Saturday 4/12 in Mapleville indicates rain from 9 am to 1 pm followed by some sun for the remainder of the day. (Accuweather forecast)

Larry Frey
04-10-2014, 12:32 PM
Allan,
The weather forecast I looked at says the rain will end by 9:00am. I spoke to Dave and it was decided that we will check again tomorrow at 9:30 am and make a call to either go as planned or use our rain date on Sunday. I will post the decision here so everyone will know whats going on. Either way it will be great to get out and break some clays with friends.

allen newell
04-10-2014, 03:44 PM
Thanks Larry. I did get the chance to speak with Dave also and we're all on the same page. If the forecast changes and it looks like the morning will be too wet to shoot, we could move the event to the afternoon I suppose as Sunday is Palm Sunday and some of might have to answer to a higher being on Sunday. Just a thought. Anyway, I won't take the sausage out of the freezer until we see what the plan is tomorrow. Thanks A

allen newell
04-11-2014, 06:08 AM
Here is NOAA's SATURDAY weather forecast for Mapleville, RI as of 6 am this morning. Looks very good for tomorrow's fun shoot!

Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 63. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the morning.

Daryl Corona

Nice. Larry and Dave- what a difference a week makes eh? You boys up north going to be able to handle a heat wave? Have fun.

allen newell
04-11-2014, 08:13 AM
:bigbye:I think I can now take the 20 lbs of sausage out of the freezer to defrost for tomorrow's fun shoot. To reiterate previously, I am bringing the following to the picnic/grill/bbq:
20 lbs Italian sausage with rolls
chips and condiments
paper plates
1 bottle of Clyde's Cider Mill's famous 'Blackout' (some of you may remember this from last year - you killed 2 bottles of the stuff!)
pair of tongs and spatula for whoever grills:bigbye:

Dean Romig
04-11-2014, 08:27 AM
You da man Allen!

Funny, I thought you called that stuff "Old Stump Blower" after Uncle Perk's famous recipe from the classic "Minutes of the Lower Forty". Well anyway, after the guns are stowed in their cases we'll commence to helping you reduce the amount of stuff you'll otherwise have to lug back home.

allen newell
04-11-2014, 08:35 AM
:rotf:Most of the sausage is links b ut I did make some in quarter lb (or more) patties for those who might prefer to eat their sausage like a burger (really good this way!) so I'll throw in some cheese.

Clyde's hard cider is a 'stump blower' of another nature......:rotf:

His Blackout hard cider is aged in sherry casks so it is really nice and easy.

After the shoot we'll relax and enjoy the rest of the day and each other. It will be fun and we're looking forward to getting together with all tomorrow. :bigbye:

Dean Romig
04-11-2014, 08:56 AM
It's been a looong winter - it'll be great to all get together again at Addieville.

The Mapleville weather shows rain ending by 6:00am with temps starting in the mid 50’s and climbing into the mid 60’s. I just spoke to Dave and we are on for tomorrow. Should be a great day and we look forward to seeing everyone there.

Dave Suponski
04-11-2014, 10:52 AM
Allen, I will be bringing plenty of hot dog and hamburger rolls paper plates and knives and forks for all of us. See you guys and gals in the AM

allen newell
04-11-2014, 12:18 PM
Thanks Dave but already purchased rolls, mustard, chips, lettuce, cheese and tomatoes.

Wow, great day! Fantastic weather, lots of sun, low wind and no bugs yet. Minimal mud for this time of year too.

Allen cooked up some good eats and I got to taste his Clyde's Cider Mill's famous 'Blackout'. Everything was great.

I had a nice visit with people I only see once or twice a year and shot a round of sporting clays. It makes for a fine day!

I managed to get my two sons out for the day and we had fun. They are so busy that finding time to spend together isn't easy; reminds me of that song that goes "just like you dad".

I didn't take any pictures today so I have nothing to post. I saw Dave with a camera in his hands so maybe he will post some later.

Essentially, I took my camera out for a nice ride. Got there, had fun, went home and found the camera right where I put it.
Yes, Robin's right on; it was a super day to shoot. Nice and warm for a change, and we had a good time with the boys from up north. Judging from the number of unbroken birds on the ground, I'd say spring was long over due.

Well, so much for your eyesight!! Sounds like the 'blackout' took hold much earlier in the proceedings. That was TEAM FOX in the chopper, performing a quick aerial survey of unbroken targets. Our findings you ask? My only comment is that it looked like the packing room at the White Flyer plant: untouched & unblemished!

Just want to know what awaits us up at Hausmann's. Rumor has it, the FPC loving cup is headed back to Meriden this year? Of course, we heard a similar exclamation from those Bronx boys in pinstripes last April. And we need not remind you how that turned out.

Judging from yesterday's performance, it's quite clear that all TEAM FOX has to fear, is fear itself (and Allen's cider)! Eight weeks and counting lads.......:bigbye:
