Any info on a PGCA tent and if tables will be available if there is one?

Rich Anderson
01-03-2014, 07:29 PM
I'd say it's to soon for that Brian. We usually combine forces with the LC Smith group and have a common area.

Brian Dudley

Anyone know who is heading up the Parker/LC Smith tent? How do I get a table?

I am a new PGCA member and live in eastern North Carolina. I just got into Parkers, and was thinking of going to the Southern SxS for one of the days. Its a 2 1/2 hour drive for me. I would like to check out the events as well as the vendors.

I have never shot at any Vintager events. Although I haven't done it recently, I did shoot CAS for awhile a few years ago. Is it a matter of getting the proper clothes along with following the other requirements on the Vintager website? I always hate being the "newbie" at such things, but if nothing else I would at least like to spend the day learning for next time.

Thanks,

Jay

Jay,
There are no requirements for dressing in Vintage attire. In fact very few do. Just dress appropriately for the weather and come and have a good time.

Dean Romig
02-14-2014, 03:54 PM
Jay, you've absolutely GOT to go to the Southern. It is truly SXS "overload" in every respect, even for those of us who go every year. Don't miss it!!

Rich Anderson

Jay welcome to the PGCA. Just come as you are and have fun. The PGCA will have a tent down by the 5 stand course, we share it with the LC Smith group so there will be lots of people to talk to and learn about two great guns.

Jay Oliver

Great! I'm in:)

Also Jay we will be shooting Thurs, Friday, and Saturday morning at Drakes Landing. A bunch of fun no score cards one of the nicest Clays courses that I have shot, so join us there for a morning or afternoon shoot and go the Deep River and enjoy all the vendors and the Parker/LC Smith shoot. It's a great time....

Jay Oliver
02-14-2014, 05:02 PM
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I haven't shot at either of those courses. Around here I have shot clays at Rose Hill and Hunter's Point in Washington, NC(which is just 30 minutes from me).

I am looking forward to driving a little west in April.

Thanks,

Jay

You dont have to get wrapped all around the axle on vintager attire - even at the vintage cup plenty of people shoot in jeans, or shorts and a shirt. Its not all vintage. To be in the spirit I shot this past year in a vest over a normal shirt and khakis, with hiking boots. it was vintage enough. No one even looked twice. Its not a problem.

Is there any particular host hotel for the Southern with rooms reserved? Or does the PGCA have any?

Dean Romig
02-28-2014, 08:20 AM
Brian, the PGCA had blocked a bunch of rooms but I'll bet they're all gone by now.

Try them anyway... The Hampton, 1904 So. Horner Blvd., Sanford, NC, Tel: 919-775-2000

Good Luck, Dean

I called the Hampton and they said rooms were still available. But I liked the rate at the Quality inn better. I have a reservation there.

Needed to save some money to pay for a foundation dinner ticket :-)

Is there going to be anyone at the southern s x s that can fix a SBT from opening up when shot? I love shooting my Parker SC but it is now its opening when I shoot it and I don't what to hurt it. Thanks, Frank

Rich Anderson

I believe Brian Dudley will be there but I would contact him prior to the Southern and discuss the proble this way perhaps he can bring the correct tools to make the repair.

Eric Eis

Just got an email from Drakes Landing, hours are 9-6 Thur and Friday, and
8am opening on Saturday and the new course will open this weekend so we will have 2 SC courses to shoot along with the 5 stand. Looking forward to it.

We can shoot Thurs and Friday am with a lunch Thursday and be drooling over guns Friday pm. There is a certain hammergun I've been lusting over:whistle:

Harold Lee Pickens

Wow, can't wait, especially since the Eastern was cancelled-what a shame, such a nice venue. I'll be bringing a few that I didn't have last year and hope I can get out of there without buying anything. Might even have to consider selling a very nice Fox Sterlingworth
20 ga(Utica)--I have 2.

If you really want to be jealous, I'm planning to be at Drake's this weekend for the opening of that second course. I'll let you know how it compares to the original. From what I've seen, it's going to be pretty spectacular!

That was my story last year. I was saving up, but good deals kept coming up. I don't have any regrets.

Rich Anderson
03-14-2014, 08:18 AM
Everything always comes due at the same time. My newly expanded Man Cave will be finished in a couple of weeks, a custom rifle will be finished next week, taxes and pension plan payments due in a month and at the end of it all is the Southern with more nice guns than any addict can stand:rotf:

Sell some more blood.... ;)

Mills Morrison

I could sell blood to make payments IF I decide to buy the hammergun. My slush fund is in a out of town bank. Consider getting a PO Box to have the statements sent to or have them sent to your office if its outside the home.

We don't have to... but rooms were blocked off for PGCA members back in January and I jumped on board. I've procrastinated too many times in the past.

Great to see old friends and put a real face with an online face for several friends. Too much to do in too little time though. Hoped to get longer visits with a lot of you, but hopefully next time.

Here are some Parkers seen at the event.
